Hair transplant timeline with FUT, FUSS, FUE, NeoGraft
Two types of hair transplant procedures are widely used due to their exclusive benefits. The cheaper (and obsolete) technique is called Follicle Unit Transplant (FUT), it is a time taking process and the client feels more pain and irritation right after the surgery. An average operation might take 5-8 hours as each and every follicle unit is needed to transplant at a time. The first three day care taking process is very important and critical for a patient as if proper care is not taken, a large quantity of follicles can be lost. Heeling rules are not complicated but may be difficult to follow as it is a slow and painful process.
During the first 7 days the only thing you are allowed to do is lying on the bed without doing anything: no reading, no laptop or television. If you break this rule, you might have swelling on forehead and eyes area. And lying on head is also prohibited till all the cuts and wounds are completely recovered. It may take 4 to 6 weeks. Complete recovery normally takes about 12 to 18 months however in some cases it can even be 2 years. The price of individual follicle unit transplantation is 2 to 3 GBP per follilce which is much cheaper than any other available alternatives on the market.
The other process is called Follicle Unit Extraction (FUE) which is a time consuming process. During this procedure an individual hair follicle is transplanted over the scalp. Its main advantages: it can be accomplished in several smaller sessions, paining and irritating sensations get recovered sooner and even its success rate is higher due to latest technology. But it is an expensive surgery, it cost 3 GBP to 6 GBP per hair follicle, almost the double cost of former process. Only few people can afford it so this technique is not so worldwide yet. Cuts and heels are usually heeled in a week, and proper care and rest is needed in the first 3 days. You will notice significant improvement after a month or two.
Which hair transplant method suits you best?
You can find countless different types of hair transplant methods in the market and it can be hard to decide for one. The outcomes are mostly the same but it is important to be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the methods before you make a decision. One thing is for sure: if you want to achieve expected outcomes at full you have to strictly follow the prescribed instructions and take proper care especially in the first weeks after surgery.
